Crystal Bay Nusa Penida
Bali · Indonesia
From August through October cold upwellings of the Lombok Strait draw ocean sunfish to Crystal Bay to be cleaned by bannerfish along the reef wall. Water temperature can drop to 18°C without warning and current can switch from slack to ferocious within minutes, demanding constant situational awareness. Outside sunfish season the bay holds excellent coral and large pelagic schools.
