Two Mile Reef

Two Mile Reef is Bazaruto's signature dive — a broad coral plateau rising from 30 metres to within 5 metres of the surface, draped in dense table corals and sea fans, and patrolled by large schools of fusiliers that draw hunting kingfish, dogtooth tuna, and the occasional great hammerhead. The reef's exposed position in the Mozambique Channel means nutrient-rich upwellings regularly push through, bringing manta rays, whale sharks between October and February, and a constant parade of pelagic life. Visibility frequently exceeds 25 metres in the dry season, revealing dramatic drop-offs on the reef's eastern face that cascade into open blue water.
