Dentex patrol the deep reef edges of Cap Corse in small hunting packs, targeting bream and mullet over the rocky substrate. Large individuals exceed 80 cm and display the species' characteristic aggressive, direct swimming style. Peak abundance coincides with summer months when water temperatures warm and prey fish are most active in the shallows.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
