Common octopus inhabit the wreck's many crevices and compartments, and are among the most reliable sightings on any Adriatic dive. They are highly intelligent molluscs capable of rapidly changing skin colour and texture to blend with any surface. At night they hunt crabs and bivalves across the surrounding seabed, returning to the same den in the wreck each morning.

How is this calculated?

Sighting evidence is compiled from iNaturalist observation records within a set proximity radius, filtered for quality-grade observations. “Last confirmed” is the date of the most recent research-grade record. Record count covers a rolling 24-month window. Confidence reflects record count, recency, and consistency of seasonal signal.
