Maya Bay Pinnacle
Koh Phi Phi · Thailand
An underwater pinnacle rising from 28 m to within 8 m of the surface just outside the famous Maya Bay lagoon on Phi Phi Le. While the beach above was closed for rehabilitation from 2018 to 2022, the reef recovered visibly. Schools of chevron barracuda orbit the pinnacle top, and the sloping walls are busy with sergeant majors, anthias, and butterflyfish. Occasional leopard shark sightings on the sandy floor below 22 m.
