Jardin des Coraux
Mayotte · France
A sprawling coral garden inside the inner lagoon with exceptional hard coral cover including table Acropora, brain coral, and massive Porites heads up to 3 m across. The calm, shallow conditions make this a superb site for underwater photography and for spotting the lagoon's resident dugong population — Mayotte hosts one of the largest dugong groups in the western Indian Ocean. Green and hawksbill turtles graze the seagrass beds adjacent to the coral formations.
