Tombant de la Possession
Réunion Island · France
One of Reunion's most celebrated wall dives, this vertical drop-off on the northwest coast begins in shallow coral gardens and plunges into open blue. The wall face is dressed in large gorgonian fans and barrel sponges, and at depth the silhouette of bull sharks moving below is a regular occurrence. Sea turtles are common in the upper 15 metres, feeding on the seagrass patches and resting in the coral ledges. The site rewards slow, methodical divers who take time with the wall's smaller residents — nudibranchs, flatworms, and ornate ghost pipefish.
