Shell Beach Reef
Shark Bay · Australia
A shallow reef system adjacent to the world-famous Shell Beach, composed almost entirely of cockle shells in the hypersal L'Haridon Bight. Divers encounter dense seagrass beds hosting juvenile fish, sea snakes, loggerhead turtles, and occasional tiger sharks cruising the sandy margins. The combination of high salinity and warm shallows produces unusual invertebrate assemblages rarely seen elsewhere.
