Tayangban Cave Pool
Siargao · Philippines
Tayangban Cave on Bucas Grande island is a cathedral-sized limestone cavern whose interior hosts a brackish pool connected by tidal passages to the open sea. Divers enter through a low-ceilinged underwater entrance and surface inside a vast vaulted chamber draped with stalactites and draped in filtered green light. The cave walls are home to endemic cave shrimp and translucent fish species found nowhere else. This site combines spelunking and diving into a single experience and requires a guide; the passages are narrow and depth is limited but the atmosphere is extraordinary.
